K’naan, born Keinan Abdi Warsame, is a Somali-Canadian poet, rapper, singer-songwriter and filmmaker. Fleeing civil war as a teenager, he found his voice in Toronto and rose to global prominence with Wavin’ Flag (2010), merging hip-hop with Somali influences and incisive social commentary.
